SINTOK: Group Uniutama Management Holdings Sdn. Bhd. (UMHSB), a subsidiary of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), channeled approximately RM6.5 million in various forms to UUM and university-related activities.

Chief Executive Officer, Rodzi Lebai Karim said, last year the group’s business activities brought profits to UMHSB which enabled the company to give back in various forms to UUM.

According to him, the cash award for last year was approximately RM2.3 million, ie RM400,000 was the UMHSB dividend while RM1.9 million was the royalty payment of Uniutama Education and Consultancy Sdn. Bhd. (UECSB) to UUM.

“For last year alone we paid about RM140,000 in business zakat and we are also trying to implement a program to benefit UUM’s B40 student group.

He said this at the Mock Check Presentation Ceremony of the UMHSB Group Company to UUM which took place in the Vice Chancellor’s Meeting Room, yesterday afternoon.

Also present Prof. Dr. Ahmad Marthada Mohammed, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Student and Alumni Affairs); Prof. Dr. Osman Ghazali, Assistant Vice Chancellor (UUM CAS); Prof. Dr. Ram Al Jaffri Saad, Assistant Vice Chancellor (UUM COB); Associate Prof. Dr. Zainal Amin Ayub, Assistant Vice Chancellor (UUM COLGIS) and Dr. Mohd. Harry Mohd. Nasir, General Manager of UECSB.

At the event, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Mohd Foad Sakdan expressed his deepest appreciation to the UMHSB Group.

“Alhamdulillah, when many other university companies do not return, UMHSB returns their business results to the university and helps the university’s activities,” he said.

In the same event, the subsidiary contributed RM10,000 to the TISSA Edu Charity Golf 2023 which took place at the Penang Golf Club on 17 June.
